Successful people have someone to whom they are answerable for their advancement and who will track their success in attaining their goals. Employers are seeking individuals who (believe it or not) want to commit to the company for an extended time period. Good career advancement is a high selling point of nominees to prospective employers.
As all high tech and engineering pros understand‚ it is learn or burn in the current work environment. Achieving new abilities, employing new theories, updating skills that are established is an absolute necessity to succeed in the current work force. The successful individual is constantly attending seminars, taking courses, gaining training on releases or new products, and otherwise learning new abilities that will keep them marketable within their livelihood. Successful people are lifelong students. Employers are looking for those who have the training needed to fulfill their needs.
